With around eight million visitors annually, Ocean City is a top vacation spot for many. The city has been a top fishing stop ever since its founding in 1875. Before its founding, Ocean City was known as "The Ladies Resort to the Ocean," a statement that continues to be true today. Within the city is also a memorial dedicated to the firefighters who lost their lives during September 11, 2001.
